The Puntland regional state government [northeastern Somalia] has issued a statement
saying that it would not participate in any meetings held in Hargeisa, as long as what it
calls the secessionist administration which encourages destruction and anarchy in Somalia,
rule there.
The statement, issued by Awad Ahmed Asharo, the minister of information, culture and
communication, followed the expulsion last week of over 20 Puntland teachers from Hargeisa
by the Somaliland authorities. The teachers had gone to Hargeisa to attend a meeting.
The statement condemned European organizations and the UN for encouraging the
dismemberment of Somalia through economic and political support to Ibrahim Muhammad Egal's
[president of Somaliland] administration...
