Officers of the California State immigration department are looking for eyewitnesses and documents that may have information on the role of Abd al-Rahman Jama Barreh (Buluk-Buluk) in the massacre of 45 members of the Isaq clan in Jasiira [southernern Mogadishu beach] on 14th July 1989. Abd al-Rahman Jama Barreh was then finance minister in the Siyad Bareh's government.

Officials who requested anonymity told this paper that the US immigration officers had contacted relevant Somaliland agencies to provide them with information on the killings.

The California State immigration department rejected the former finance minister's application for American citizenship.

Abd al-Rahman Jama Barreh, half brother to the late Somali dictator, and Maslah, the dictator's son who was the commander of the 77th army division, are believed to have ordered the massacre
