NAIROBI (Feb. 21) XINHUA - Security worries and inadequate facilities will
prevent Somalia's national football teams from playing at home this year, the country's
soccer chief said on Monday.
Farah Addo, president of Somalia's football association, said that
preliminary ties in the World Cup and the African youth and junior championships would be
reduced to one leg and played on the ground of their opponents.
Somalia is set to play African champions Cameroon in the World Cup
qualifiers and Kenya in the African junior championship during April and Uganda in the
youth championship in May.
"We cannot guarantee the safety of visiting teams and our national
stadium is not up to international standards despite extensive renovations," said
Addo, who is also vice-president of the African Football Confederation.
