UN Security Council "satisfied" with Djibouti
proposals on Somalia

NATIONS, Feb 23 (AFP) -- The UN Security Council said Wednesday that it was satisfied with
progress madeby Djibouti in drawing up a plan to restore peace to Somalia. In a statement,
council members said they were "ready to consider the peace plan in a constructive
spirit in due course." The statement was read by Argentina's ambassador to the United
Nations, ArnoldoListre, who holds the presidency of the council this month. The council
also condemned attacks on UN personnel and other humanitarian aid workers in Somalia and
condemned other countries supplying arms to Somalia. The statement recalled that the peace
plan drafted by President Ismael Omar Guelleh of Djibouti was due to be discussed next
month by the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) and the East African Intergovernmental
Authority on Development (IGAD).
