INTERNATIONAL REPORTS: SOMALIA: PUNTLAND PRESIDENT VISITING ITALY

Reliable reports say that Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmad, the president of the Puntland regional
government, is visiting Italy at the invitation of that country's government.
The reports added that the president had held talks with Italian Foreign Ministry
officials responsible for eastern Africa. Unconfirmed reports say that the president and
Italian government officials discussed matters pertaining to the Djibouti peace plan.
The Puntland government has not yet officially announced the presidents visit to Italy.
President Abdullahi Yusuf left Puntland for Britain early this month for a medical
checkup. Before going to Britain, he had visited Djibouti and Ethiopia...
