A well-planned meeting between two Mogadishu faction leaders, Ali Mahdi Muhammad and Dr Husayn Haji Bod, took place in north Mogadishu yesterday.

During the meeting, which was held at Gen Jili'ow's house for several hours, the two faction leaders agreed on three points, and they are as follows:

1. That no one can claim to be the sole leader [presumably of southrn Somalia];

2. That a joint technical committee be set up to resolve the conflict over leadership;

3. That the forthcoming Djibouti peace conference and USC [United Somali Congress] should be given full support...
