The UN special envoy for Africa, Ambassador Mohamed Sahnoun, has said the UN will not continue to be a spectator in the Somali political crisis. Ambassador Sahnoun said it was true that mistakes had been made during the UN operations in Somalia, but that he had earlier warned against such mistakes, adding that the UN was not looting Somalia's [resources].

In an interview with the BBC Arabic Service this week Ambassador Mohamed Sahnoun said there was a possibility that the UN could return to Somalia.
