The growing violence in the G.T.A. has left a 16-year-old dead. Guled Mohamoud was stabbed in a confrontation in the Abyss nightclub in Mississauga. And police have little to go on.

It’s a night his cousin will never forget. “I came to see…if my cousin was okay,” recalls an upset Awad Hurre. “And then I just saw him lying there, not moving, not breathing, just lying there dead.” The family had just moved to Toronto from Ottawa in the last year. Witnesses say Mohamoud was caught in the middle of a brawl during a March Break all-ages dance.

There were security guards and metal detectors at the doors, but the suspects were still able to sneak in the knives. At least 1,500 people were in the club, but most scattered when police arrived.
