The port of Boosaaso [Puntland, northeastern Somalia] is a beehive of activity with preparation under way to export the highest number of livestock out of Somalia this year. The livestock are said to be heading for the UAE, which recently lifted the ban on Somali livestock.

The government of Saudi Arabia is also expected to lift the ban on Somali livestock in the coming days. The impact of these new livestock exports [in the economy] are already being felt in various towns in the northeast.
