MOGADISHU

Text of report by Somali newspaper 'Qaran' on 15th February
A Djibouti delegation which has been in Mogadishu for the last two-weeks reportedly
held confidential meetings with various personalities and groups. The delegation has been
living in hotel Lafweyn [phonetic] in northern Mogadishu. Further reports say the members
of the delegation held closed-door meetings with some members of the defunct Somali armed
forces and senior former civil servants.
The two-member delegation is headed by Mr Farah Waiss Dhuhleh, a former executive
official of the defunct Communist Party of Somalia.He is currently an MP in Djibouti
parliament. The nature of what Mr Waiss and his delegation discussed with different groups
has not been disclosed.
Reports say that Mr Waiss, who is the Djibouti president's special representative on
Somali affairs, is expected to shift his base from north Mogadishu to south Mogadishu in
the next few days to hold talks with south Mogadishu-based former senior officials of the
defunct Somali armed forces and some former Somali government officials. P2
