Somalia: Ethiopian-backed RRA faction voices opposition to Djibouti peace plan

BBC MONITORING INTERNATIONAL REPORTS , March 13, 2000 Text of report by Somali newspaper 'Ayaamaha' on 12th March The chairman of the RRA (Rahaweyn Resistance Army), Hasan Muhammad Nur (Shargadud), has joined other faction leaders in opposing the forthcoming Somali national conference in Djibouti. "It is important that the Djibouti conference be delayed because the Somali problem basically emanates from inter-clan conflicts. Before any such a conference is held, the warring clans should be reconciled and territories occupied by rival clans returned to their rightful owners," the RRA boss said.
