Text of report by Somali newspaper 'Ayaamaha' on 9th April
Puntland regional state [northeastern Somalia] is on the brink of political turmoil
over the Djibouti peace plan.
The majority of people in the region are in favour of attending the forthcoming Somali
national reconciliation conference in Djibouti, which the Puntland administration has
announced it would boycott.
Hasan Abshir Farah, an influential minister of interior and security, resigned the day
before yesterday after Abdullahi Yusuf, the president of the Puntland regional government,
refused to bow down to the wishes of the majority. The minister is among those supporting
the Djibouti president's peace plan.
