Reports from Boosaaso, Puntland regional state [northeastern Somalia], say a foreign firm, the Hart Group, which the Puntland administration has contracted to carry out surveillance of Puntland's territorial waters, has captured foreign owned boats and ships illegally fishing the Puntland waters. Workers on the boats have been arrested. Among those arrested were 31 Pakistanis.

The Puntland officials also confirmed that a ship belonging to a Swiss firm, which illegally caught over 400,000 metric tonnes of fish, was captured. Six workers from the ship were also arrested..

Meanwhile, a United Arab Emirates boat, with a capacity for over 500 metric tonnes, and called Al-Ittihad, yesterday caught fire and burnt to ashes at Boosaaso harbour. The fire was reportedly caused by the water draining motor.
