The people of Puntland [northeastern Somalia] are today marking the second anniversary of the establishment of their regional administration.

Thousands of people, among them clan elders, religious leaders, young people, traditional dancers, women's organizations and school children gathered in Garoowe town to mark the occasion. The president of Puntland regional administration [Col Abdullahi Yusuf] inspected a guard of honour mounted by the Puntland armed forces.

The residents of Gaalkacyo, the headquarters of Muudug Region, also marked the occasion with people from all walks of life participating in the festivities.
