Hiran.com is posting
deliberately fabricated information against PL
http://www.banadir.com/ has
recently posted a so-called declaration (Bayaan)
allegedly signed by tens of people said to belong to the
Ali Sulaiman sub-clan of Majerten. The forged declaration
charged the Puntland administration for many unfounded
accusations. A member of the Puntland community in the Diaspora
has contacted Banadir's Webmaster and discussed about the posted "declaration".
To his credit, the Webmaster, after trying to reach the original
sender for further verification could not get a satisfactory result,
and decided to drop the article from his site. Hiran.com has
posted another deliberately fabricated information last week.
This misleading information stated that
"gangs" in the Bari Region abducted the wife of Puntland
President, and a MP in Puntland, Mr. Gagaab. Despite
the Puntlanders verification that the news was false, as
posted in websites like http://www.somalitalk.com/, http://www.somaliawatch.org/
and Sahan Press, Hiran.com appears to be happy to keep this baseless
info in its website.
We recommend that webmasters involved with the Somali politics be
careful about what they are posting in their respective pages, and
should verify the truthfulness of any document forwarded to them by
unknown or unreliable sources. The quality of the information
portrayed in any given website measures the latter's reliability and
attraction to potential clients.
Somalia desperately needs daily magazines or Internet websites that
try hard to close the gap between Somalis. We usually point our
fingers to the corrupt politicians from all sides and clans, when we
try in soul-searching hiatus to give a meaning why Somalis are
in this mess in the first place!
If the flourishing Somali Internet sites proceed in this habit of
intentional character assassinations and misinformation directed to a
region or a state, only one interpretation can be drawn from it; that
some Somali Internet sites, while carrying regional names themselves
like http://www.hiiraan.com/,
had joined the clannish civil war!
